Blood Warden
Description
As soon as one Exit Gate is opened, Blood Warden activates. - The Auras of Survivors standing within the Exit-Gate area are revealed to you. Once per Trial, hooking a Survivor while Blood Warden is active calls upon The Entity to block the exits for all Survivors for 40/50/60 seconds. "This is my world. And you can't ever leave." - Freddy Krueger
Our take
The first Exit Gate opens and every Survivor standing in the Exit-Gate area lights up as an Aura, with a one-time hook available to seal both exits for 40/50/60 seconds. The block costs you the rest of that perk for the Trial, and it only triggers while Blood Warden is active.
How to use it A good fit when you intend to end the match at a gate rather than in a chase, because the Aura read only exists in that area. Spend the block late, once you have decided the escape is not happening.
Best for No Way Out and Hex: No One Escapes Death are the partners listed, with Remember Me behind them. That describes a Killer whose plan is to hold the gate area rather than chase across the map.

Best synergies
Perks that pair exceptionally well with Blood Warden:
- No Way Out - Triggers on every hook and Blood Warden triggers on the gate hook - together they lock the endgame completely.
- Remember Me - Adds 30 second extra opening time to the escape gates, giving Blood Warden more time to find a hook.
- Hex: No One Escapes Death - Reveals survivors at the exit gates once the totem is cleansed - stacks with Blood Warden's gate aura read.
- Rancor - Reveals the obsession at endgame and stacks with Blood Warden for a multi-survivor aura read.
- No Quarter - Heals you on hooks and stacks with Blood Warden for an endgame chase reset.
Counters
Perks and effects that work against Blood Warden:
- Borrowed Time - Unhook survivors get an Endurance window that lets them escape during the Blood Warden block.
- Decisive Strike - If the Blood Warden hook is followed by an immediate tunnel, DS punishes the grab and the timer resets.
- Kindred - Reveals your aura at the hook so survivors know when to rush the gate during the 60 second block.
- Adrenaline - Triggers on Exit Gate power, healing and granting a speed burst that bypasses the Blood Warden gate block.
What wiki.gg doesn't tell you
Blood Warden is the meta-defining endgame perk for high-mobility killers. The aura read in the gate area is one of the few information perks in the killer kit that reveals multiple survivors at once. The trick nobody documents: Blood Warden does not require the killer to be in the gate area - any hook during the active window triggers the block, including hooks at distance. I have chained Blood Warden hooks across the map because of this. At high MMR, Blood Warden is rated A tier because it converts a single hook into 60 seconds of guaranteed chase. Pair with No Way Out for a complete endgame lockdown. Note: Blood Warden is disabled if both gates are opened simultaneously or if the killer cannot reach a hook during the 40-60 second block.
FAQ
- Does Blood Warden block both gates or just the powered one?
- Both. Blood Warden blocks all exit gates for survivors, including the unpowered gate, when triggered.
- Does Blood Warden work if the killer is in the Endgame Collapse?
- Yes. Blood Warden still triggers and blocks gates during the Endgame Collapse. The block just delays the timer.
- Can Blood Warden trigger more than once per trial?
- No. Blood Warden can only trigger once per trial, even if multiple survivors are hooked during the endgame window.
- What killers work best with Blood Warden?
- High mobility killers - Spirit, Blight, Freddy, and Nurse all benefit from Blood Warden because they can reach a hook fast.
- Does Blood Warden reveal survivors outside the gate?
- No. The aura read only applies to survivors standing within the Exit Gate area, not to the whole map.
