Our take
Auras of closed Chests, items sitting in opened Chests and items dropped in the environment all light up for you within 32/48/64 metres. Nothing shows past that radius, so the read only works on loot you are already near, and the Rarity bonus is tied to items found in Chests.
How to use it Strongest on routes that sweep past Chests rather than aim at one. Useless in a stretch where nothing sits within 32/48/64 metres.
Best for Appraisal and Built to Last reward knowing where a Chest is before you commit to it. Ace in the Hole covers the option you did not find.
