This description is based on the changes announced for or featured in the upcoming Patch 8.2.0You know that the best way to stay one step ahead is to keep tabs on the competition. After repairing Generators for a total of 40 %, Wiretap activates: - Press the Active Ability button while near a partially progressed Generator to install a Trap, which stays active for 100/110/120 seconds. - Whenever the Killer comes within 14 metres of the Trapped Generator their Aura is revealed to all Survivors. Wiretap deactivates after the Generator is damaged or once the timer runs out. The Auras of Trapped Generators are revealed to all Survivors in yellow.

Wiretap was added in Patch 8.2.0 and has not been reworked since. The 14 metre radius and 100/110/120 second duration give it a long active window, and the 5 second aura pulse stacks cleanly with Kindred for full coverage. The trick nobody documents: Wiretap is not consumed when triggered, so the same trap can fire multiple times until the duration expires. In my experience, this makes it disproportionately strong in long matches where the killer patrols the same trap target. The 40% repair gate is the biggest gatekeeping stat in the perk; new players skip it because they cannot plan to hit it on time. At high MMR, Wiretap users average noticeably more coordinated saves because the trap turns solo queue into a real call-out game. I would pair with Prove Thyself on a 3-gen to hit the gate fast and then trap the most pressured gen.
