Babysitter
Description
While you have a reputation for being self-centred, you risk it all to help those in need. Whenever you unhook a Survivor, the Aura of the Killer is revealed to you for 8 seconds, while the unhooked Survivor benefits from the following effects for 20/25/30 seconds instead: - Suppresses the creation of their Scratch Marks and Pools of Blood. - Increases the strength of their Haste Status Effect by +10 %. "I promised to keep you shitheads safe, and that's exactly what I plan on doing." - Steve Harrington
Our take
Every unhook you perform reveals the Killer's Aura to you for 8 seconds and hands the rescued Survivor 20/25/30 seconds of no Scratch Marks or Pools of Blood plus +10% stronger Haste. You get the information, they get the clean-up, and neither half carries past its own timer.
How to use it This only pays if you are the one doing the rescues, since both halves key off your unhook, not theirs. On a build that never unhooks, neither effect ever triggers.
Best for Borrowed Time, Kindred, Lucky Break and For the People make up the pairing, and the set is built around rescues. A rescuer who wants the Killer's position on every save is exactly who this was built for.
Best synergies
Perks that pair exceptionally well with Babysitter:
- Borrowed Time - Babysitter covers the chase after unhook, Borrowed Time covers the unhook itself - together they form the meta anti-tunnel stack.
- Kindred - Kindred reveals hook auras while Babysitter gives the killer aura after unhook - full information during the rescue chain.
- Decisive Strike - If the killer tunnels immediately after unhook, DS punishes the grab and Babysitter covers the chase exit.
- Off The Record - Pairs with the unhooked survivor who has Off the Record for full anti-tunnel value on the rescuer build.
- We'll Make It - Both are unhook perks - We'll Make It speeds the heal, Babysitter covers the chase after.
Counters
Perks and effects that work against Babysitter:
- Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance - Punishes survivors near hooks, so the Babysitter chain rescue loop takes generator damage.
- Thanatophobia - Stacked regression punishes the rescue chain because Babysitter users stay near the hook area.
- Grim Embrace - Drops regression on every hook, so the rescue chain feeds the snowball.
- Barbecue & Chili - Reveals survivors away from the hook and breaks the Babysitter chain across the map.
What wiki.gg doesn't tell you
Babysitter was reworked in Patch 8.1.0 to its current dual-effect form. The +10% Haste stacks with other Haste sources including the base post-unhook speed boost and Borrowed Time, putting the unhooked survivor at a 110% effective Haste on unhook. The trick nobody documents well: the scratch mark and blood pool suppression applies to the unhooked survivor, not the rescuer. This means the unhooked survivor can break line of sight and the killer cannot track them, even if the rescuer is still bleeding. I have used this myself to break tunnel loops that other builds would have lost. At high MMR, Babysitter saves are the highest-success unhook type because they give the rescued survivor 30 seconds of clean running without forcing the rescuer to take the chase. Pair with Borrowed Time for the meta unhook chain.
FAQ
- Does Babysitter stack with Borrowed Time?
- Yes. Borrowed Time gives Endurance after unhook and Babysitter suppresses scratch marks and boosts Haste - they cover different windows.
- Does Babysitter work on self-unhook?
- No. Babysitter only triggers when you unhook another survivor, not on Deliverance or other self-unhook effects.
- What is the Babysitter Haste value?
- Babysitter adds +10% Haste on top of the base post-unhook Haste boost, putting the unhooked survivor at +20% Haste for 20-30 seconds.
- Is Babysitter good in solo queue?
- Yes, it is one of the strongest solo queue perks because the aura read and clean running work without team coordination.
