Description

This description is based on the changes announced for or featured in the upcoming Patch 8.1.0You guide your victims along a path of pain and punishment. Performing the Damage Generator action on a Generator activates Trail of Torment: - Grants the Undetectable Status Effect until the Generator stops regressing. - The Aura of the damaged Generator is revealed to all Survivors in yellow. Trail of Torment has a cool-down of 60/45/30 seconds.

Our take

Survivor perk. Sabotage perk. Trail of Torment turns generator damage into a stealth tool - Undetectable lets you roam, damage, and reposition without killer intel coverage.

How to use it Damage the most progressed generator first. The Undetectable window lets you sneak to the next gen for a second sabotage in one rotation path across the map.

Best for Saboteur-style builds where you damage the killer's regression. Pairs with Prove Thyself for the meta repair-sabotage duo and Saboteur for hook auras on the team.

Best synergies

Perks that pair exceptionally well with Trail of Torment:

  • Saboteur - Both are sabotage perks - Saboteur reveals hook auras, Trail of Torment grants Undetectable during gen damage.
  • Prove Thyself - Speeds up the repair loop while Trail of Torment grants Undetectable for safe damage rotations.
  • Wiretap - Wiretap reveals killer approach on the gen while Trail of Torment grants Undetectable on the same gen.
  • Déjà Vu - Highlights the 3 closest gens so you can pick the right Trail of Torment sabotage target.

Counters

Perks and effects that work against Trail of Torment:

  • Barbecue & Chili - Reveals survivors away from hooks, breaking the Trail of Torment stealth rotation.
  • Infectious Fright - Reveals survivors on the downed teammate, breaking the Trail of Torment Undetectable window.
  • Thanatophobia - Stacked regression punishes the Trail of Torment loop because the team is rarely on gens.

What wiki.gg doesn't tell you

Trail of Torment was reworked in Patch 8.1.0 to its current 30 second cooldown at tier 3. The Undetectable window is unique because it is tied to a Survivor action (generator damage), not a Killer action. The trick nobody documents: the Undetectable status is consumed by any Conspicuous Action, so running, vaulting, or repairing cancels it instantly - I have wasted the perk more than once by reflexively running after the sabotage. At high MMR, Trail of Torment is rated B tier because most Survivor builds do not include generator damage. Pair with Saboteur and Prove Thyself on a sabotage-support build. Note: Trail of Torment does not work on unpowered generators, only on generators the Survivor can damage.
